Made for US readers
Two systems, one answer.
The United States commonly uses feet, miles, pounds, gallons and Fahrenheit, while much of the world uses metric units. Recipes, property listings, weather forecasts and product specs often mix the two.
Length & area
Inches to centimeters, miles to kilometers, square feet to square meters.
Weight & volume
Pounds to kilograms, ounces to grams, US gallons to liters, cups to milliliters.
Temperature
Fahrenheit, Celsius and Kelvin, with the correct offsets applied.
Which unit categories are included?
Length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, time, energy, pressure and digital data. Each category includes both US customary and metric units where they apply.
Are US and imperial gallons the same?
No. This converter uses the US liquid gallon, which is about 3.785 liters. An imperial gallon is about 4.546 liters. The US quart, pint, cup and fluid ounce are also different from their imperial counterparts.
How does temperature conversion work?
Fahrenheit, Celsius and Kelvin use offsets, not just a multiplier. The converter applies the standard formulas, so 32°F equals 0°C and 212°F equals 100°C.
What is the difference between MB and MiB?
A megabyte (MB) is 1,000,000 bytes under the decimal convention used by storage manufacturers. A mebibyte (MiB) is 1,048,576 bytes, or 1,024 kibibytes. Operating systems often show binary units but label them as MB or GB.
Are the results exact?
The conversion factors are standard definitions, but displayed results are rounded. Converting a rounded result back can produce a tiny difference. The underlying calculation keeps full precision.
Is the converter free and private?
Yes. It is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser. The values you enter are not sent to simplytools.us or any third party.
