PDF questions

Privacy, limits and what the workshop can and cannot do.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Both tools in the PDF workshop read, merge, split and write files with JavaScript running in your browser. Your documents are never sent to simplytools.us or a third party.

Which part should I use: merge & split or PDF maker?

Use merge & split to combine PDFs or extract exact page ranges. Use the PDF maker to add images, reorder whole files or add optional page numbers.

How do I extract pages from a PDF?

Open the merge & split section, add one PDF and enter pages or ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. You can produce one combined PDF or a separate file per group. The original is never changed.

Can I add JPG or PNG images to a PDF?

Yes. The PDF maker accepts PDF, JPG and PNG files and can mix them in one document. Images are fitted onto A4 or US Letter pages.

Why can't I open a password-protected PDF?

Encrypted PDFs cannot be read without the password, and these tools do not ask for one. Remove the password in a trusted PDF app first, then try again.

Is there a file size limit or a watermark?

Each file can be up to 100 MB, and the tools are limited by your device's available memory. There is no watermark; page numbers are optional.

Which PDF format should I use for archiving?

Use PDF/A only when a records policy or recipient requires it. For everyday sharing and editing, a standard PDF is usually the better choice.

Keep the original files until you have checked the download. Closing the tab clears the working session.
